for that much you can get the miller econotig for $1371 and its a way better machine. this one should work but for smaller jobs.

Hobarts are good machine but not for sure when compared to Miller or Lincoln.

I have a Hobart and I am very satified with the machine. All it is a Miller with different colors. When I bought the welder new the lead actually had Miller stamped on it.Every part I have bought for it I have had to buy from Miller. You can get Hobart alot cheaper elsewhere such as TSC, Airgas, or another welding supply. I have found generally the price can vary as much a few hundred dollars when buying from them opposed to Harbor Freight.

Harbor Freight and "good" dont go together. I agree with the hobart statement, its frowned upon, but I have a champion 10,000 arc welder and have been nothing but happy with it.
