Default Rubber protectors for pliers.

I'm doing some FAST Fuel Rails on my SS and don't want to scratch the fittings. Went to Saers today looking for something to use. Found some slip over rubber pieces for pliers & robogrips. Bought a couple pacs of them and a pair of 7" robo grips.

Should look like this when done.

Nice, but I wouldn't use pliers or Robogrips on those aluminum fittings. Rubber covered or not. Just my 2 cents.

What would you use? I don't want to screw them up. I was afraid wrenches would scratch the fittings?

If you can afford it, buy the correct AN wrench for the fitting. They are made of aluminum and fit the fitting perfectly. The anodized coating is pretty tough on those fittings. Pliers are just plain crap for any bolt or nut that you don't want to mess up. Even using a regular open end wrench is better. Just slide it on carefully and don't overtighten.

I'm definitly not afraid to spend $ on tools. I just want what is going to work right. I have seen the fittings done and they were all scratched up. I don't want that with mine.

I guess you can get those at Summit, but not sure about a local parts or tool place.

If you're careful enough with a wrench or a crescent you can get by without scratching them to crap. I don't think those tools are necessary just to tighten them a little bit.

I'm up for any excuse to buy more tools.

You can't tighten them enough without scarring them, I'd recomend getting a A/N crescent wrench from jegs. they work good

I saw that not too long ago flipping through summit I think. I don't do a/n fittings enough to invest in something like that so I just used the crescent /

If you have a good, solid crescent maybe electrical or other tape in/on the jaws...

I don’t think that I’ve ever scratched one with a normal wrench, but if I was really worried about it I would put a layer of tape on it and go with that…

Seem expensive for what they are.
