Anyone wleded Inconel?
gallon pharmaceutical tanks out of it and they aren't welded in a booth.
YOU MAY ALREADY KNOW ALL OF THIS BUT HERE GOES
*If you are looking for 100% weld then yes you need to purge it with ARGON.
*Inconel flows really slow when welding and looks like it has mud in the
puddle. Don't let it through you off that is just the properties of the metal.
*Cap both ends of your pipe off with welding tape and the like and leave a
small hole so the oxygen can escape. Argon is heavier that oxygen so it
will push the oxygen out. Let it purge for a few minutes depending on your
psi and size and length of tube and then weld as you normally would pulling
the tape off in front of your weld a little at a time as you weld.
*You can also buy backing tape and use it instead of purging but it is hard to
get inside of a piec of pipe.(obviously).
GL with your headers.
BTW Why in the h**l did you go with inconel?
Just a fun project to waste some money on..
