Tools for Xmas

Tools for Xmas So all i really want for christmas are some tools lol. im a college student and my dads collection of tools makes me suffer. in highschool i always would just go over to my buddies house to work on my car since he had a helluva lot more than me but now im a long way from home and need some advice.
I am gonna be asking for a good mechanics toolset and a decent sized toolbox that is still portable (aka i can lift into my truck on my own... i didnt say it had to be too small lol). what would your guys advice be? are the hope depot brands decent or should i go with craftsman? i know most of the time ive been workin on ls1 engines i need metric crap... what about the rest of my truck?
any input is greatly appreciated

as far as I know, everything on our trucks is metric, if there's some standard hardware on there I've yet to find it. The tools from Home Depot and Lowes are both pretty good, I'd put them in the league with Craftsman. It all depends on what store is closest to you, so you can easily exchange broken tools. Go to all the stores and look through their kits, back when I first started I got a 160ish piece tool kit, metric and standard, deep and shallow sockets, 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" drive, all 6 point (I don't like 12 pt) for under $200, it comes in a big plastic case that fits nicely behind my seat.
