Default Good set of drill bits.

Ok, Ive been through maybe 5 sets of drill bits in the past few years. I have yet to find something that works well. Id be willing to spend a bit more for a set that will last and save me time/work/frustration. I had a set from dewault, cut well but eventually they dulled and broke very easily, i bought a few sets from home depot which were junk, I then got one set from harborfreight, it is decent but half of them are dull.

Basically, I want a drillbit set that can cut through wood, metal, plastic, etc. I want it to last me for a while. When i break a screw or something and need to drill it to extract it, I want it to do it with ease if that is possible. Also for drilling and tapping, i would like that to be easy as well.

Google: Magnum Super Premium. Lots of good feedback on these.

Get a good set of HSS or Cobalt. Your basic 20 pc drill bit set should run atleast $65. There are plenty out there that are worth paying $100+. You really go get what you pay for in that realm. To expect a set to last over a year with any kind of sustained use, you need some good hard metal.

Milwaukee has another set that's not Cobalt. It's probably about the equiv of a dewalt or irwin set. Read some of the reviews on Amazon on these bits.

Go to http://www.mcmaster.com/ then go to catalog page 2326 get the Multilayer TiN/TiALN-Coated drill bits . They are a "little" pricey but they are far and above the best bits that I have ever used . Even after drilling numerous holes in stainless they still look and work like new. The bits made from powdered metal will out last the bits made from colbalt steel they are worth the little extra price for the powdered steel. They are made in Germany and worth every dollar. Stan
