Steel braided line...... Are there any write ups with pictures and info on how to properly make steel braided lines and how to attach fittings etc. both in npt and an?
In a nutshell, what I've always done is wrap some electrical tape around the line where I am going to cut it and use my dremal to cut the braids. Then a pair of lineman's scissors to cut the nylon/rubber. Then clean the line really well and slap some good ol petrolium jelly on the end of the line and on the fitting's barb. Then just push them together. If you have never done it before, be prepared to poke your thumb a few times and yell at a few things.
Yeah to cut do place a good 5-6 rolls(revolutions) of electrical tape around where you're going to cut.
I take off the 5-6 layers of tape and put one clean layer barely overhanging the cut edge. Slip it into the end, I never had any problems doing it that way.
To cut I use a Ryobi cut off wheel, looks like a miter saw, which costs like 120 at home depot.

I do about the same, I use a new cut off wheel, or if at my buddy's shop, he has the big cutters, I cut all the way thru. I was told several several times by many different people, never leave tape on when you are assembling. To each his own. I also use cam snake oil when assembling, seems to work great for me.
