Default Plasma Cutter Help

I'm looking at buying a plasma cutter. Yes I know that a Miller, or any American made plasma cutter will be better, BUT for about 1/3 the cost I can pick up one of these.

Has anyone delt with a "CUT 50" or the seller? More than likely a Chinese made machine, but the cost is great, can buy consumables from same person.

Here's a link on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/50D-Dual-Voltage...ayphotohosting

Feed back for seller is 99.1%

Any help would be appreciate. Anyone that knows of an American made one that costs about the same - or a little more - please step up.

Thanks

David

Default Esab

I run a fab shop in Houston TX. We have 2 - 1" ESABs that we use EVERY day, and they hold up great. We also have a 4" set up that is bad ***. We have bought some of the "cheaper" ones over the years and they all burn up quickly.

If your going to buy one, get a good one or you will regret it.

Also we have like 40 miller welding machiens and 8 ESAB welding machiens.

Miller is great, but i think they are overpriced and overratted. I would go with the ESAB for the plasma cutter.

Ive got a cheapy 'chinacut' plasma in the 50a variety. Its a very decent machine that Ive no issues with. It doesn't burn through consumables fast, strikes an arc everytime, will burn 1/4" like nothing(provided your air source is good enough). Ive only tested it up to 3/8" as thats the thickest Ive had use for but it doesn't have an issue.

You do get what you pay for on most occasions and Im sure the higher end plasma's have some better qualities like starting an arc through other less condutive materials like paint, but for the money it is a great hobbiest tool.
