welder regulator question
welder regulator question i just got a weldmark 135 plus mig welder yesterday (it was used). i got the gas filled today and went to go use it. on the bottle (it has the "stock" regulator) it shows pressure in the bottle, but on the other gauge (the c02 argon one) it stays at zero. do i have to adjust it? or is it supposed to be like that. this is my first welder, and my first time using one (my friend gave me a crash course yesterday without the gas).
darn it. time for the easy outs to work some magic. mine had a plastic handle on the end, and when i twisted it it just came out. i guess this is what i get for buying a welder at a pawn shop (ghetto i know, but i'm in college and need a way to afford welding services so buying one is the best way to do it, especailly after the 400 dollar welding bill for my torque arm crossmember)
actually i just went and played with it and figured it out. it was broken, i guess it was supposed to be like that. i screwed in that handle and it went up. yay! do you guys think it would be feasible to use this welder to weld up to 1/4" i really would like to be able to fix my trailer with it (the c-channel on the frame got torqued, it used to be a utility trailer i had converted). if not 1/4", then maybe if i used 1/8" square tubing across and maybe some 1/8" flat bar to box the c-channel and i would groove the 1/4" c-channel, maybe?
