Default Good micrometer set?

Looking for a 4 to 5 inch outside micrometer, dial caliper, and a dial bore gauge. Can anyone reccomend a good brand name and place to buy from?

I can get to Chattanooga in about 1.5 hours. It's an easy drive. Which brands do you carry. I've found some Mitutoyo sets, and a couple of Starrett pieces, but nothing else.

For the bore gauge it all depends on how accuate you want it, If your checking cylinder bores you really need somthing accurate to .0001 . Most of those import and some brand name ones are good to .001 . I would recommend "Standard" for the bore gage, or "Sunnen". It's going to be a little pricey, problably around $600 new. That would be somthing I would look on Ebay for, at work we've got a lot of good stuff off there. Also the Standard bore gauges are simple to work on and really durable.

I think I'm pretty much set on the Mitutoyo outside micrometer and dial caliper; it's the dial bore guage that costs an arm and a leg, and I can't find a good compromise.

You need nothing else....unless you buy Brown and Sharp (as mentioned by G2LS1).
