Slow site
It should be fast then. Are you using IE or Firefox?
If IE, you may need to do some cleaning of your cookies history and whatnot, that typically lags IE (at least XP's IE, I've never used the new one).
EDIT: Also, I've sometimes had to wait up to 30 seconds for a complete page load, the server does have quite a big of stress with so many pages, members, and stuff, it's a bit of a workload, not to mention anything else that may be hosted here as well.
