Exclamation Site crashing

The site keeps crashing on iPhones. I specified iPhones because I'm not sure about any other platform but it will respond very slowly at times and then just completely close itself out. It's especially bad on threads that have YouTube videos embedded. It's been doing this for a couple weeks now. I would have said something sooner but thought it was just my phone until some friends were reporting the same issues. This is on the regular site as we don't use the mobile version. Thanks for any help.

The two issues are likely seperate.

The first issue sounds like a browser issue if the browser is closing on it's own.

Second issue sounds like a network/server issue if you couldn't reach the site for a few minutes. That would not result in the member's browser closing as described in the first issue.

I believe there is some current connectivity issues and it will be investigated.

Thanks.

It could be browser related but on the other hand I keep 8 car sites open and this is the only one that I have this issue with.

It is a browser issue in the sense that if the browser is actually closing, then it's the browser itself that is "crashing". If LS1Tech "crashes", it doesn't send a signal to browsers to terminate/crash. There was a hardware issue yesterday, which is why you see 2 posts speak of not being able to access the site. The two issues are unrelated.

You mentioned the issue appears mostly with YouTube videos. There is a product being used that embeds YouTube videos so that members can easily post a YouTube link and the product converts it by embedding it inside the post. This means the viewer simply has to click play and they can watch the video within the post. It's possible that some devices, especially mobile devices, can't handle this due to limited resources.

Jeremy, when I said 'crash' I know i used the wrong term (being in IT I should know better lol). It simply yesterday went entirely offline and was inaccessible. When it did come back, it was very slow and threw a lot of database errors.

Seems OK at the moment but I haven't been on much.

I get what you are saying a out the embedding of videos. I'm simply stating that out all the sites I visit this isn't the only on that embeds videos but it is however the only on that crashes when in the past it never did such a thing.

Not sure what the point of this forum is when the answer always seems to be it's the person's browser or device's problem and that nothing is wrong with LS1tech.com.

You might as well just announce that you do not support all browsers and platforms and give a recommendation on what browser/version works best to access the site.

From what I can tell, most of the issues surrounding the forums on any device/platform/browser/application/version is caused by the gross overuse of dynamic 3rd party advertisements, but that is just one persons opinion.

Yes, there was an issue that occurred yesterday with a server. The time was taken to do a quick upgrade.

When did it start? Like I said, there was an issue lastnight but it's not related to the issue you're reporting. As entertaining as it might be for LS1Tech to have the option to send a signal to a browser to "crash" it, that isn't happening. If LS1Tech, or any server, can't be reached, it does not crash the browser. Given that it has been stated that the issue appears when there is several videos listed, and it's also stated the desktop theme is being used, it's hard to not suspect a resource-limited device (mobiles) may be part of the issue.

Aside from when the issue started, what are some direct examples?

The site is just super slow as of late and half the time either crashes to a database error, doesn't load completely, or takes FOREVER to load the page.

I'm not a IT guy so can't explain it that way. All I can really say is I use my phone to browse various forums 90% of the time because my job requires me to be on the go. Only on this site do I have a issue with my browser collapsing when viewing it. It's even worse when with in a thread with a YouTube video embedded in it. Most of the time it will just go slow. Others it will redirect me to a ad tracker or some bs. Then the others times it will just totally close itself out.

This is the biggest for us. It has been going on for a while.

Windows 7 Business Edition, Firefox. We don't run anything but work office programs on this computer. Our computers are virus free and all patches, latest version, etc are up to date. Please see attached. I can understand IB wanting to maximize revenue with ads all over the place but it seems it's getting way too many ads. Anways, not sure if the screen capture here is ad related. It only happens when you initially go to the front page to log in. The site will just hang because it is trying to run this script and can't and so we'll have to wait for the error message to appear.

Thanks and if you need anymore information, email me direct please.

The ads are ridiculous. I wish they would make sure they have the site running properly before bombarding us with useless ads.
