all this white starts to bother my eyes after a while. how hard is it to keep a darkside theme with a new layout? just different colors right?

I always used dark side as well. It looked so much better. I've been wondering what happened to it and I guess now I know. Like others have said, I bet most of the users didn't realize there were options, and since they would have to manually change it to dark side, that made the other version the most used. Not by preference, but by default.
