I've been noticing posts popping up from long dormant screen names that seem to be the result of having been hacked. Here's an example: https://ls1tech.com/forums/parts-cla...k-miles-2.html The thread ended in 2018 with a post saying the car was sold, and the reply from @mcamarols1 asking if it was still available seems quite suspect, considering his last post on here was in 2016.

The problem I see occurring is, someone hacks a screen name with good feedback, posts a few messages, and then either puts items up for sale or replies to a for sale ad and people think it's a legit seller and lose out on money or their items. I myself was off the site for a long time and came back, but I didn't post a stupid reply to a dead for sale thread or anything similar when I returned. I just think this issue needs to be addressed, so others are aware of what's happening and can choose to not deal with a user who may not be who they say they are.

This is not a "hacking" but instead, and this is not exclusive to LS1Tech, is members who use the same username and password on multiple sites and one of them gets leaked.

It is best to use the Report Post feature to report any Spam or suspicious post/account behavior.

I agree with Jeremy.

We have a two-step authentication process available, members should use this for best possible security on their own account. It's a bit of a hassle, but it's the only certain feature that will prevent anyone else from accessing your account.

I think members need to be more careful about how they use the classified section. I see scammers sign up with usernames, on a regular basis, that are just slightly different than the OP of a given ad. This is pretty easy to spot if you just take a moment to verify that the member you are replying to is actually the one who originated the sale thread. This single issue is the source of more scammers than any sort of zombie-account "hacking" or any other type of scam on this site. Luckily, this is an easy scam to catch. There's nothing LS1Tech can do to prevent new members from signing up with a name that's close to someone else's name so, again, folks using the classified section just need to be more careful and pay attention. This alone would eliminate the success rate of the majority of scammers we see on this site.

At least now I understand why some very old join dates are now popping up as spambots. I have noticed this on multiple forums and wondered about it.
