Look. To illustrate a point. If the admin wanted to filter out the word *******. He can filter out the word *******. Nobody is likley to get their panties in a wad because they can't say it around here. But, since the word christ is now invloved, I'm suddenly being repressed, held down by the man, etc. If Christ is filtered and God is not, then you are not being repressed, etc. You just must use another word to express whatever it is that you are trying to say. Stick to "holy diety of your choice" instead of christ. Everyone will get the message and it will apply to virtually any religion. You have not yet begun to be repressed.....

Now, yes, freedom of speech is federally mandated and all that good stuff. However, this is a privately owned board. Think of it this way, say I interview you for a book, I don't like what you have to say and I only print one line of it or none of it. If it's my book and as long as I didn't misrepresent you, you can't do anything about it. Are you going to sue me to add your interview to my book? This is their "book". If what you say is true, then the admins couldn't ban anyone. That would prevent their freedom of speech. However, people do get banned and nobody has sued yet.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.....

Good god/deity almighty in heaven/space and time continuim.

Religion and politics, the two evils that will surely destroy the planet.

Thank god we have the middle east to thank for starting all this crazy religious stuff.

Oh well, you can't put the genie back in the bottle.

Thanks again "God".... or insert the name of yours here---->"______".

By the way , Jeb , that's MR.******* to you .I still stand by my statement and if you can read a sig , I'm an admin at another site. Point is , it's their party and their rules. If they don't want a word used , then they filter it. Just to illustrate this further, go to www.thirdgen.org and type in GOD . You get ***, you gonna sue them too? And I might add, being such a good Christian that you are, is it really common practice to go around calling people ******** in your church? I'll leave you with one last thought. Your opinion , my tonsils, appendix ,and wisdom teeth=unnecessary.

By all means , do just that, you 'll find out I'm a really nice guy and yes , I do have a job , did you not read the entire sig?. I just don't care for people who try to threaten others with lawyers when they don't get their way. This nation has enough frivolous lawsuits these days as it is.That's pretty asinine in my book. As for owning me in your mind, whatever floats your boat, dude.

Ok. Since I'm here anyway.....(I'm not taking sides, I think you're both wrong )

I don't think he threatened to sue. I think he said that in his opinion (which I don't agree with, but I'll get to that), someone could sue and that he considered the censorship to be illegal. Not quite the same thing.

Now, as for it being illegal (or not).

Remember this. The board owners pay for bandwidth. Bandwidth is not free. When they allow you to use their bandwidth, they get to make the rules regarding what you can say or what messages that bandwidth can be used to promote. Yes, speech is free, bandwidth isn't. Therefore, you will have play by the rules of the person who "writes the check" to the service provider.

If I let you stay at my house and tell you not to get in the pool, you better not get in the pool. If you do, you could be considered to be tresspassing. If you refuse to play by the admins rules, you are, in effect, tresspassing. Does that make sense? So, you are correct that there is freedom of speech, but I don't think you'll find a court in the land who will take a case based on a word being censored on a privately owned internet forum. The board is private property even though the owners are nice enough to share it with most of the english speaking free world, it is still private and they have the right to make the rules as such.

Anyway, just trying to play the voice of reason and explore this arguement while adding some clarity.

Have fun!

Default It's a great board ...

Lots of friendships made here ... lots of enemies if you take things too perosnal. I guess the big difference in doing either, here (making friends or enemies) is that, here, people are more apt to speak their minds to the extreme in both directions ... than if you were speaking to someone face-to-face.

It's all good, at least with me. I don't hold grudges. I've found through life that it only causes yourself the most trouble and anguish when you do. I've had a blast here for the past year that I've been a member and will continue to do the same ... as long as I am allowed to be here. Brains, WILWAXU, Jerami (could go on and on mentioning names) have all been responsive to my needs and have helped me immensely.

Unit213, I've followed a lot of your posts and you've offered some good advice in some of my threads ... thanks. The other turds who have argued and tried to beat me up here and make me call them names and explode in anger are probably fine folks, as well, just very opinionated. They just picked on a guy who doesn't allow the devil to take control of situations in my life. They're all good, too.

This has been a great thread, but, my apologies, once again, for not having enough respect for my fellow brother to not take over the dudes thread. Several of us are guilty for that and we all should apologize to the guy ... IMHO.

I'm outta' here guys/gals. See ya' all in other threads. Good luck and lots of prosperity in your lives ... yes, ALL of you.

Well , I'll step up to the plate too and say I'm sorry. Jeb, after the initial buttchewing post for screaming "lawyer!" , I was just messin' with ya, dude. You kinda flew off the handle a bit too easy and I went with it. You really should come up and check out MTFBA. You'll find I'm a really nice guy , always trying to help out fellow members and making everyone feel welcome regardless of who they are or what they drive. If you noticed, my posts really didn't take a hostile tone nor did I call you any names. Now one thing I will ask , though: how does one "make" somebody else call them names? I'm not trying to stir the pot anymore but I find this rather puzzling.

I'm from your area. I will, indeed get more involved with your organisation because I will permanently retire there, not too far down the road. As for your question, well, just read a few of the replies here ... LOL!!! If you don't have strong values/morals, people can easily make you call them names. Well, it's been good and I've had a great time here. Hope everyone else has, as well.
