Default Sponsor banners not showing up?

I'm on my girlfriend's computer and she just got it back from being fixed. Anyhow, I guess they set it up so that images would be disabled when loading up the page. How do I set it so that images load up? Thanks.

Probably "anti-idiot" settings. Many computer repair places are now doing their best to lock down people's computers to protect them from themselves. With the proliferation of talented yet devious individuals on the internet, and the masses of people who don't have the desire to really dig into their computer's inner workings (ie. routinely click "yes" to anything that pops up on their screen), its more or less forced the need to somewhat cripple people's computers as a safeguard.

Computers are no longer tools, they're electronic playgrounds for bored nerds.

Brains, that last comment would have sufficed if ended at electronic playgrounds.

Dude, there is nothing really that you can do to fix it. It is just how that computer is parsing the code. Run windows update and make sure IE is up to date, or try a different browser. Try fiddling with your browser settings.

If all else fails, reboot the computer.

It sounds like they attempted to "fix it" without fixing it fully. Many times the computers I receive are so ridden with malicious spyware and high risk viruses that I just wipe the computer and re-load it. Back to what I mean about fixing - they probably did a scan in both spyware/anti-virus software, ran a registry check and maybe a Scandisk. If the computer was full of high risk spy/virus, then more than likely the OS (operating system) is corrupted beyond the point of just merely deleting items out that are detrimentally affecting it.

The first signs of this ( corruption in the OS ) are a browser not functioning properly. By functioning properly I mean loading all pages correctly and without error. The browser, especially IE (Internet Explorer), is a crucial built in function of windows. If windows is broken, IE won't work. If IE is broken, many times windows won't work correctly. It is "built in" so to speak. The huge court case regarding Microsoft monopolizing the market with their browser had an effect on users. Now, you can actually ...somewhat...in a way...delete IE from a Win machine.

In short, you can probably wipe and re-load the system yourself thereby saving yourself money...or your GF. If you need help, just ask.
