Default A Part Index Would be Nice

There are so many vendors supporting this site that it's totally impractical to go down the list until you find what you want. Has any thought been given to creating an index to the key parts/services each sponsor offers?

Most people, unless someone is specifically recommended by another user, probably start at the top of the alphabetic list and go down it until they find what they want. The sponsors at the end of the list might get ignored.

I did this a year ago, actually. Admins never did anything with it, though, so I stopped wasting time updating it about six months ago.

Wow, you'd think the sponsors would be clamoring for that!!

Its been discussed off and on in the past few months, however instead of creating an index, it would be more indepth. It would include a little description of services offered, location, etc; and we could segregate them by types of services, and possibly enable searches by services - ie: install only, install and fabrication, retail parts only, or in many cases a combination of the above. I think to be able to combine that search ability paired with location would make a very specific search.

It would probably take some extra coding on Brains' part to keep the implementation up to LS1Tech spec and right now he's busting his *** full time on site performance. Perhaps in the near future when the performance kicks back up we will look into it again.
