Default FAQ Forum

Ive been building a carpc over the last few months and the site I use has a FAQ forum. Its a forum for FAQs only and no questions are allowed in the threads. The threads are cleaned up by the moderators so useful posts remain and duplicate info, questions, or inane comments are deleted. This makes it very easy to find the basic information on any subject. Ever tried to read a 15-20 page long thread to find something? Its great for newbies and helps to keep the same question being asked over and over again. It would reduce searches and bandwidth as well.

I have noticed on this site that for FAQ type information stickies dont work very well because they take up valuable space in each forum and get consolidated and/or removed and new ones are not added very often. As an alternative you could have a sub-forum for each forum called FAQs where FAQs pertaining to that forum would be put.

Does have its good points, but don't think it's really right for ls1tech.

Here we'd have too many different topics mixed together in a 'FAQ forum', and a whole lot of separate threads if the FAQs weren't combined, making it still hard to find things.

I think it works well for us to have them in the relevant forums; them not being frequently updated/expanded is a separate issue.

Subforums might be more appropriate, except that we don't really need to have a bunch of separate threads for most stuff, and that many subforums would be unwieldy.
