search times out on me
I came to post the same thing and found this thread. I am on cable so the connection is not the issue, there has to be something going on with the site.
It makes it really hard to locate what you are looking for and when you ask about it people SCREAM at you to use the search function

What I've noticed works for me. If I do a search and just let it go it will just sit there for a minute or two and then time out, every single time 
. The little loading bar on the bottom left of the screen won't even move. Well, one time on accident I hit the wheel on the mouse (actually clicked it) and suddenly the bar loaded half way through. Then about ten to twenty seconds later it loaded all of it. Been doing this now and found that it works for me 9/10 times. Hope that helps.

I have more to report on the search feature. Its seems as though if you use the main page basic search - it works. When I have tried to either use the advanced search or sub-forum-specific search, it times-out.
Anyone have a similar experience?

Times out for me too. 
What I have tried kinda works though...go to yahoo or google and type in "ls1tech" then the search term(s). It might not be as accurate, but it may just work for what you're looking for.

Same trouble here, just built up a new Conroe rig using WinXP pro and firefox. LS1tech overall is very flaky now, lots of timeouts posting and searching.
Are there any known setting or broweser issues?
