Title editing not allowed?

Why can we not edit our thread titles? If you edit it in the post it does't actually change in the forum. This would be helpful to fix misprints and redirect attention. Like us that post in the conversion section would like to update our project threads title w/ an updated date so people know there is new stuff.

Any reason this isn't allowed or is it a software limitation?

I know that mods/admin can edit a title by clicking 'edit' from the Thread Tools
drop down menu. I'm not certain if regular users have that ability though for
posts they create.
