Why doesn't ls1tech do this...?

Why does ls1tech not have a minimum post count that must be reached before a user can start a new thread??
This would cutdown significantly on the complete BS threads that tend to come up in the Street Racing Section from users with 0-5 posts.
Maybe if ls1tech required a post count of 50 or 100 before a user can tell his or her street racing story we wouldn't have a bunch of 0's starting new bullshit threads...just thought I would share this idea after reading a couple of these bs threads and reading another thread completely devoted to talking about this problem...this would also cutdown on spammers, which you don't see too often here, but other sites have the problem...anyways, lets hear what ya'll think...

Note: I'm not trying to step on anybody's toes, its just an idea.
Don't worry Unit, I will keep posting and you can keep moderating. ;)

it would also cut down on the "what do i need for 400 hp" or "A4 or M6" or "which catback", "which lid" it would force them to search. :search:

jpat1023 Feb 2, 2007 04:18 PM

Yea no kidding!! It would fix a lot of things like that around here...

5_02ls1 Feb 2, 2007 04:21 PM

ill second that idea they should do a pole

XTINCT Z Feb 2, 2007 04:22 PM

Great idea!

I roll my eyes every time I see same flippin' posts from newbies...

Why is searching such a difficult concept?

5_02ls1 Feb 2, 2007 04:27 PM

i wonder if the street racing thread is even moderated sometimes

Beaflag VonRathburg Feb 2, 2007 04:28 PM

I agree, although it shouldn't be that high of a total. Something like 5-10 at the most. There's many people on here who have contributed to the site even though they've only posted 1-5 times.

bww3588 Feb 2, 2007 04:28 PM

i was jsut over there, it dosent look like it. someone add a poll to this.

correct, but the number of shit stirrers outweighs the useful newbies. i think the standard, 50/6 should apply. 50 posts or 6 months before you can start a new thread. i think you should still be able to post in someone elses thread (minus the parts forsale and what not) but not be able to start new ones.

cyphur Feb 2, 2007 04:35 PM

I like this idea. Poll added.

Excellent idea, how about XX amount of posts AND XX amount of time??
What about the people who just got a new LSx and want to tell us about themselves?? Maybe just allow them to start new threads in only the "welcome to LS1TECH" section.

brad8266 Feb 2, 2007 05:05 PM

Yes allow them only to post in the "welcome to ls1tech" area.

craz28 Feb 2, 2007 05:16 PM

great thread, great idea.

landstuhltaylor Feb 2, 2007 05:18 PM

id be in support for ~10 posts

jpat1023 Feb 2, 2007 05:19 PM

Good to see the idea has supporters!
I think 25 posts or 3 months is plenty to weed out the ones who are just causing trouble vs. the ones that actually need help and want to learn.
99% of all questions asked have been asked before, so the learners with 0-24 posts will have plenty of reading to do before they can start a 'new' topic.
And of course, leave the "Welcome to ls1tech" section open to all...those seem to be moderated 'round the clock anyways.

High five, jpat1023, *SLAP*

jpat1023 Feb 2, 2007 05:30 PM

hahaha

*meets at the top*

LS1z2802 Feb 2, 2007 05:32 PM

Im a supporter and I say 25 posts is good enough, if you go 50-100 people may get discouraged and leave the site.
