Default Dissappointed

Gotta tell ya I'm sortive dissappointed here. Always hear people being ripped on by other members, heck half the time they deserve it, because they say something out of line as well. But to here it from the mods and admin himself I have to say, shame on you guys for acting like first graders.

How about being a little curteous to newbies. I signed up a while ago but I kind of rediscovered the site. So yeah I'm a newb. And now I'm starting to get really involved in it. Well I made a mistake on not reading a thread before posting, JESUS why don't you crucify me for that one, mine as well lol. It's ok to rag on me a little I can take it but how about letting me know what to do afterwords. Not just ripping on me and leave me to hang in the wind.

I totally see what people are talking about now. This site needs some attitude change imo.

You mods really need to relax, not everyone here knows the ropes, so sue me that I made a mistake. So if I happen not to see a thread how about addressing me in a pm like a professional versus a first grader mentality.

So here's my request take a chill pill and realize we don't deal with the same sitautions as you guys do (seeing the certain threads), sometimes people forget also.

Well I tried to address this as professionally as I could because you know what I like LS1tech, and I want to stick around, cause like I said I can take a little heat. But I thought I should make a post on this. To show you guys why a lot of newbs leave. I got attack by the whole damn admin team jesus lol, I laugh at myself cause I know I made a dumbass move not to read the thread, but a lot of people wouldn't react like me.

Hey this is a cool place with the best knowledge on f-bodies period. But I think if some of you guys check your attitude and make yourselves a little friendly or at least tolerant to people like me, there's no stopping this site. Cause I can tell ya the rude obnoxious behavior isn't attractive.

Take this with a grain of salt, but I figured it was worth addressing.

Thanks,
Dave

Are you referring to this thread? It's because the admins and mods are sick of seeing all these new threads about issues that are clearly covered in the huge flashing sticky right on top of the page. This support forum is full of locked threads. If you and others only took a few minutes to look on just the first page you would not have posted so hastily. You've made over a hundred posts in the last six months. You're not that much of a "noob" to not know better.

If you took the time to read my note here you wouldn't have said that I'm not such a newb. Actaully the past month or so I had around 75 posts, I had like 25 post before then. So that's what I mean when I say newb. Also I understand, but again if you read my post here I'm saying to ease off the anger a bit. There's no reason for them to get all worked up there the moderators there suppose to set an example of the site idk if they actaully know that or what. I had one guy on there answer me decently and he wasn't even a mod lol.

Dave, if you were the only person who had not read that sticky, then I think you would have been treated very differently. I am sorry you do not appreciate how you were treated, but please take a second to look at it from our perspective....

There are 90k or so members, and nobody reads stickies. We take time and effort to create the stickies, which would answer 90% of the questions you could have, and nobody reads them. So a while ago, we changed the color of the stickies. Not much changed, recently we upped the font to a rather obnoxious size - a little change, but not enough. Now the main sticky in this section is HUGE AND FLASHING - saying READ THIS. Now, I'm not always the brightest bulb in the box, but I can't miss that sticky to save my life when I view this forum, how anyone else could, is beyond me.

So, since hundreds of members before you have decided to take the lazy, easy way out and waste our time and post up a new thread on topics that have been covered in well laid out, comprehensive stickies, you now get treated differently than you would have a year or two ago. It is important to note, however, that there are over 25 locked threads in this section, and they all have titles which denote topics covered in the main sticky in this section. Had you browsed this section, you probably would have noticed this trend, and checked the sticky. Since you did not, we are lead to believe you joined the "club" and just posted up without really investigating for yourself. This is LS1Tech, not "get fed information from a silver spoon .com".

So, please try to read the stickies in the future, and things will work out for all parties involved.

People only feel we're "mean and nasty" when they do something that draws negative attention to themselves. We don't single people out, force 'em to post a thread, and then make fun of them. No it usually when someone makes a PUBLIC post in the user help forum about something that has been fully covered by a thread DIRECTLY below the button they pushed to create a new thread.

What made me kinda chuckle is you said a mod should have PM'ed you, apparently to save you the embarassment. Why then, did you not just PM someone in the first place, rather than make a public post about it? Further, like we're TRYING *VERY* hard to get across, MOST of these questions have been answered in the stickies at the top of the forum ***RIGHT NEXT TO*** the button people are pushing to create a new thread

As a self-proclaimed newb, don't you think it's more appropriate for YOU to learn OUR culture, rather than storm in and try to run things your way? You don't see people with 5,000+ posts making new thread after new thread in the user support forum, because they read the stickies first. That's all we're asking, is for people to read the stickies and get their answers themselves whenever possible. That way, you get your answer sooner, and you can move on to what this site is TRULY about -- technical conversation.

I want to add one more thing. I noticed you're relatively young, and I feel there's a culture shift going on. I hate to say "your generation" and date myself, but younger folks on the 'net don't understand the etiquette the internet was built upon. 10+ years ago, people would seek out their own information, and it was considered quite rude and inconsiderate to spam the newsgroups with questions that have already been answered. Have you ever heard the acronym "RTFM" before? How about FAQ? Those were all coined back in the early days of the 'net. Heck I even have a T-shirt that says RTFM on it If you don't know them, ask google Anyway, people would get downright nasty if people would re-ask questions on the newsgroups. Again, if you can post you can read was the message, and people learned to seek and find rather than annoy and pester.

+1 stickys and search are everyone's best freind here on ls1tech. Its not that you were getting singled out as a newb... if i were to ask the same question i would accept/ expect my *** ripping and go on. This is a huge site and there are tons of newbs coming aboard everyday. You are not the first to ask the question and wont be the last... with that being said enjoy ls1tech....or dont

Fair enough guys I see your point. And like I said I know I goofed, so I do accept it. That's cool, just sucks that I have to start over in post counts because I want to change my name. I changed it everywhere so it's pointless to keep the old name here. Well like I said I can take a little heat and I accept my bone-headed move lol.

And I'm not trying to change the site where did you get that from? I've already adapted very much so. I didn't storm in here guys, so I don't know where you got that idea, you don't see **** and ****** all over the place lol. I thought I handled that pretty well because I didn't understand what was really going on here so I made a second thread and kept my cool.

Well like I said fair enough I'll just create another name it's only 100 post anyways and since I want to get more involved on the forum I'm sure I can gain it back quickly.

in order to lighten the seriousness of replying to those who cannot read flashing sticky threads, I've created a new generic response image to post:
