Thumbs down Admins - Too Many "Request Timeouts"

Seems the server/s are getting slower and slower. A little proactive system performance monitoring would go a long way to eliminating the bottle necks and tell you if you need more memory, processing power, I/O, etc.

Hell, maybe it is time to put some performance enhancements into the server/s rather than the cars.

Sorry to sound like a jerk (if you want to ban me that is fine I probably deserve it) but it gets really aggrevating when one constantly gets "Request Timeouts" more times than actual pages coming up.

Hell I tried the stickies to see if there are issues but that "Request Timeout" appeared again.

Hope you have luck getting better system performance.

I know you mentioned that you tried to read the stickies, but had you waited to do so, you would have known that there isn't much hardware that can be implemented that will work around the flawed software.

There are things in the pipeline - and while it may seem like we say that, yet nothing happens, nothing happens overnight when its this large of a project.

What ever happened to the other forum design that was up for a while back in the day? Is that still in the works or no?

The problem is the users. If there were no users on here, this site would be 100% up, and fast as a rocketship. Get rid of the users, get rid of the problem.

At least that's what a Bastard like me would do.

Could not have said it better. Start charging $5 a month and watch the 'user mod' start to work, this thing would be so damn fast it would peel the virtual paint off the hood.

Please.....

The owners aren't hurting for money. They have plenty of sponsors that pay a lot to be here. And why are the sponsors here? That's right.....because of the users.

It has been mentioned a few times now that the software is limiting us. Instead of using a band aid and hacking what we have....why not change software? There are bigger sites out there than LS1tech.

First of all, the original poster came off like a dick.

Secondly, there are larger sites membership-wise, but hardly any with 6 years of threads in their database. Most sites purge threads older than 6 months old or archive them so that they cannot be replied to. We have considered those options, but also feel that there are years of good tech info here that should not be discarded. The searches are what tax the database and the software, the format simply sucks.

Please read the sticky thread, it explains this stuff clearly.
