spam?
spam? first id just like to say its being handled promptly and effectively
....
but is there a reason why theres been so much spam lately, ive been around for a little while and i never really noticed it as much as the last week or so?

There was a government initiative to crack down on spammers a few weeks ago - it was on the news. This may be new domains being rolled out to replace the old bots by the same folks, or just new folks filling in the void.

Honestly, it seems to have backed down a little as of late (in the last week or so). We've started implementing IP bans, and I'm matching IP's with Project Honeypot as well. I think it's helping.
Most of the spammer IPs I've banned in the last few days have been zombie computers. DSL or cable customers, with trojans on their PCs.
Then again, as soon as I say "it's helping", we get hit with a new wave...
I haven't seen much spam in the Racers' Lounge, but it got 3 posts this morning from the same spammer...

yea i havent seen much if any, in any forums other then newbie tech or the non tech lsx discussion forum.....just those two...hmm conspiracy in those two forums
