Default Suggestions for changes....

Search Feature...
There is no AND syntax.. default syntax is OR.. to require a word in the phrase to be in the post you need to prefix it with a +.. Perhaps you can put a little direction regarding this on the right side of the search page to help members out. The + sytanx is not common and a little how-to would make it so much easier. Search is very important.

Readibility..
IMHO readability is one of the most important things of a site. With a site like this and such a huge membership I think readability could be so much better... For example, you open up a post. Every single reply in that post has the same header.. Why do you need to constantly re-read the header? It also seems to be a very cluttered header..

I like how you have the post extra's at the bottom, that is very clean. Perhaps you can alternate colors between replies to help seperate them.

For the header, perhaps remove the topic name but leave a posted <timestamp> and in the right keep the buttons but remove the white background then the blue line around them.. It would just be a red button on top of the replies background color.

Have the replies alternate in color. Like the classic off-white and grey alternation. Then make the teching in text and such black.

Also, Brian.. I was talking with John today about the coding of LS1 Tech and he says you handle that department. If you need any assistance I'd be more than willing to help. I asked John to let me have the code for just 1 day so I could fix some of the features I have mentioned.. he says to talk with you.

Thanks for your suggestions.

We will not having anyone revising the code of the site except for Tony, Brian or the outside consultant we have used on occasions, Christoph. We cannot keep track of revisions made to the site.

I have some search feature how-to stuff from Christoph I will review and see if they will apply to our site.

I'm sure that a well organized site of this size has a REVISION/MODIFICATION sheet RIIIIGHT??? That way in the event of a crash/upgrade you will be able to re-do all the upgrades/changes/revisions you have previously done in the past. Without needing to contact the author of that change.

We have copies of the site because the hacks themselves take a ton of time to do... think in terms of hundreds of hours on stuff.

Site is in a state of constant evolution.

One of my pet peeves about sites since 1998-2000 was the slowness of big sites.

Right now we are operating on our own server custom designed for our site. We can upgrade to an ever more powerful box if we need to in two hours.

This software has some good features, but unfortunately the edit feature was not one of them.

My search page edit is VERY valid. It's very easy to do and would help so many.

Alternating reply BG colors I think is also very vaild.

Are these suggestions you will take into consideration and perahps put into action or just shrug off?
