This posting is for an automatic 1994 LT1 powered Pontiac Firebird. The car has 130,000 miles on the body, with 50,000 on a rebuilt engine and transmission. When I bought it, it was in rough shape. Since then, the windshield has been replaced, door handle replaced, the lower temperature sensor replaced, the intake elbow refitted (section from the MAF to the intake was cracked and torn badly), and air filter replaced. Oil just changed at 130K. 0-60 in under 6 seconds from a good launch. In all honesty, I wanted a manual. While it goes like hell and I do love it, I just can't shake the absence of a manual transmission. Call me silly, but I don't feel as in touch with the car without it. It cheapens the experience for me. I want that control that comes with a manual. Fuel economy is currently ~23 MPG highway. Versus continuing to work on it and selling it inevitably, before I become too attached I'd like to see it have a good home and get the goodbyes over with. : ) Now, here's what needs work:
- Clearcoat is worn on spoiler, roof and on the passenger side panel along the top.
- Engine faithfully cranks, but will need to be turned over several times. I suspect flooding, but haven't yet gotten to the bottom of it at the time of this post.
- Driver side headlight needs gentle pressure on the back to light up, and when going down makes a grinding noise and will need a new gear (details available at http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/headlightfix/). This is inherent to all 4th Gen F-Bodys.
- The lock/unlock buttons work, but are loose from the panel on the door. Don't know what neanderthal decided it was a good idea to do that.
- Rear cargo flap insert broken on right side (not that big of a deal though).
- Some of the red trim is loose on the passenger's side.
- Passenger side sun visor is damaged and stretched (probably from a CD holder).
- Finally, the console trim surrounding the shifter is broken along the top.
Now, the mods:
- Edelbrock Headers
- Larger Throttle Body
- Cold Air Intake (As in true cold air routed to the bottom. Filter replaced with a Spectre high flow as it was all I had at the time but still works great.)
- Flowmaster Exhaust
- Rims
- Cammed
This will make an amazing car and doesn't require much to really come to life. Hasn't failed me. You should know there is no traction control on this one. Ran it against my buddy's 04 Pontiac GTO and it was able to stick with it maintaining the same distance into 5th gear where he began pulling away from me. Surprising, as he has an LS1 with headers. Asking $4,250 to cover what I've got it it and mods but willing to negotiate. Please contact me at two seven zero, four zero seven, thirty two forty nine. It's in Tompkinsville KY if you're in the area. Thank you!
