dont try to climb and mess around with your truck without backup vehicle. look into getting a gps emergency device, onstar in chevys work fine otherwise a cheap alternative is the spot gps, just in case your somewhere you dont have cell reception and you need help

Well, we got back last night. No problems other than...

Getting stuck once and having to dump air out of the tires and dig out

Three flats

Having to find my dog in the middle of the desert after he ran off

Oh, and my buddy getting **** drunk and heading to town in the middle of the night to get a burger and some smokes and leaving us 12 miles from a paved road. He got a flat, or more likely realized he had a flat, once he hit the paved road. He slept in the truck which had our hand held gps, two maps, three cellphones and the majority of our food and water. Oh, and our sunglasses, hats, toilet paper, shovel, guns (which was why the pooch ran off lol).

REALLLLY long story short we ended up hiking four miles to the main trail and getting a ride from some guys in a jeep gc back towards the paved road. On the way there we intersected the Rangers who were coming out to look for us before they called in a helicopter.

It got even better when I turned my phone on the next morning after we found him and the truck gone. Ten voice mails, nine about the fire next to my mom's house and the damage (fire dept busted down her fence to get to the backyard to cut down her trees and they flooded her house to keep it from burning) and one from the local sheriffs.

The idiot who stranded us called them to tell them he was lost and needed help to get back to us. The call back number they left was for the jail and we assumed he got a DUI and the truck impounded along with two pistols and one shotgun, even though they said they had no record od arresting him or releasing him.

After talking to them that morning and telling them we would call back if we needed to be rescued my phone was damn near dead. Was only turning the phone on to text my mom with updates figuring that the jackass that ditched us (who is my sister's bf) would be in touch with family back home. "mom, phone is dead, leaving campsite and heading north, we are ok" "we have hiked for two hours and are back on the main trail heading east, we are ok".

He wasn't even that smart to call his gf/my sister from somebody else's phone (when we got back to the truck there were three sheriff trucks there too) to keep them updated.

Fuggin idiot

BTW, note to self...

Next time take an air compressor, two spares, and no idiots that ditch their friends in the middle of nowhere to get a burger and some smokes.

Oh, my dirt bike didn't go with us for few reasons so we didn't have that either

He was very lucky we had some time to cool off in the strangers jeep and then the rangers truck. One of the sheriffs told us to wait until he was out of sight before we beat his ***. One of the rangers told us to do it on the the other side of the I 15 or wait until they were off duty lol.

He knows he is on our **** list, trust me

We knew where we were, and how to get back to the main trail and from there the paved road. The dumb *** that ditched us did not. If it will please you I will delete this thread. Sorry
