Did the color of the fluid coming out the bleeder screw lighten up alot? If it's still dirty or dark, put another 1/2-1 bottle through it.

Keep bleeding...when I did mine I bled it forever and it would just barely go into gear, then I bled it some more and eventually starting working.

He said he did use the shim.
It has something to do with your hydraulics/fluid. If you are using your same hydraulics that had no issues before the swap then it has to be something to do with the fluid. I'd hook up a mighty vac to your reservoir and try to bleed it that way. Lots of bubbles should come out.

i had this problem before, i used a mityvac to bleed the system with a remote bleeder, i put the clutch pedal to the floor and bleed it on the floor, for some reason it worked that way, and i have no idea how or why it did, but it worked

You can get a mighty vac at AZ. I would try bleeding it at the reservoir first.
