The things in red are your problem areas. In Cali, you have to pass a visual inspection as well as a sniffer test. Meaning that you have to have CARB legal (aka shorty) headers, you have to have stock cats in their stock location, and you have to have AIR and EGR in place if your car was equipped with it. Your cam is iffy, it can pass the sniffer with a spot on tune, but no guarantee.

What I were do if I were you is leave your car as is and find a smog shop that will pass you, for a fee of course.
This is my question here, with my LT headers on my if i put the stock cat on it it would be in the same place as it was stock, so do you think i would pass with my LTs? IT also has air and egr

No you're cat would definitely be further back than stock. You could always try to take your car in and see if they don't notice the headers. You might get lucky.

Landed a job trasfer to Camarillo-Ventura area (My home town) in the Julyish time frame

. In light of this article http://www.sacbee.com/static/weblogs...html%3C/div%3E I will have to change my setup & register shortly after arriving . can anyone reccomend a shop that can change my heads, put stock emissions back on, cam, dyno tune and etc. ? wanna make ~400 after beging legit with the state. I'd do it here in RI, but there in SoCal they have the tuning expertise to match the emissions out there.

On a positive Note: I will be legally able to tint the rear window . Here in RI 70% of light must pass through the back window, rear pass windows allowed to tint - but we don't have those . So that is one thing I'm glad CA allows that RI doesn't

You might want to try A&A Corvettes in Oxnard or RPM in Santa Clarita. They might work on F-bodys, not sure. Just swap out the cam, get High flow cats and a good tune.

I'm in the same boat. Just came from Chicago a few months ago and I'm sitting on my registration in Illinois because it's good for almost a year yet. I don't want to risk it for too long, but my exhaust is so far from stock it's not even funny. With the cost of the move, I won't be able to afford to swap it for quite a while...

my uncle (exec in the Ventura County Sherrifs dept) gave me a couple contacts. What is the best Shop for LS1 based cars down there in SoCal? The more contacts the better!

well, i have the STS set up and had the EGR and AIR shut off when i get it tuned and im missing a pair of kitty's, and i went to a shop up here and he passed the visual and i almost passed the smiff, i was only a couple points away from passing..i went and had some kitty's put on and she passed with flying colors..it really depends on were u go and how good of a tune you have.

I'm still looking for shops there in SoCal. I'd like to get in contact with one who knows LS1's and can do a dyno tune. Which shops are out there and where do you socal F-body owners go to?
