Unhappy Any ideas with this issue ?

The car has issues, when you start the car up and rev it to 2 k for example the car will drop down to 300 rpm or so and wanna die then it picks its self up .... when you drive the car and come to a stop it dies. Ive been having all these issues since putting on long tubes. Ive checked all the wires that i can check " im not a mechanic " and have not found anything burnt or dead. The car has a new pcm and tune , battery , electric water pump all within the last 3 weeks. The alt was checked at autozone and it passed.

why is my car dieing and running like chit. Could it be as simple as the IAC has gone out ?

any real help will be greatly appreciated thanks guys

Is it OBD1 or OBD2? I forget if the 97s got the OBD2 or not. Is it throwing any codes? How fresh is the optispark?

S.R.J. is the LT1 guru.

EGR? is there any holes in the intake where something should go? sounds like a vacuum leak. Check everything again, if the car had EGR and now does not that might be your issue.

so you did not have it tuned in car??????

ok my bench top tune was close.......close as anyone could get but had that exact issue....the wot was on safe side and ran great at track...actually showed a 12.7 af ratio through most of the pull .......but the weather in AZ sucks *** ....Do you have anyone that can just touch up some areas?

For the LTx guys those tunes are not as easy to get touched up. I have LT1Edit but even NicD hates looking at them.

Most with the tunes from Ion or PCM for less are close to dead on, but they always say hit the Dyno and send us the results for a free retune to those results.

On your car use starter fluid or carb cleaner and spray around the intake manifold see if you can get the car to suddenly rev up from it sucking in the fluid.

Next I would ask about your exhaust but you told me it was smoking so thats out. Unless it has changed has it changed?

You said your getting no codes and your a 97 right (Which reminds me for the one asking, 96-97 OBDII no one wants to touch tuning and I mean no one. 2 Years for the LT and everyone either tunes for the 95 and below or 98 and above LSx its like having the bastard child of the F-Body Community... oh wait thats the 93 and below ) I would say you need to data log it see what your sensors say esp at the time of this issue. Can you do that with what you have?

Ok now then I am going back to drinking and playing the Wii.

then I would def see if you could data log something and get them to touch it up.

couple other ?? I have

does it only do it when colder engine temps mine did it only in a certain engine temp range also...was car was up to normal temp it was fine......that is why I say "touch up"

I did a new clutch and put in LT this febuary ....for the past month id say everytime i come to a stop it dies. or if i take a turn it dies. ????

if i turn the car on and let it idle and rev it up it drops way below 1000 rpm like its gonna die but doesnt ?

i have the IAC out and im gonna clean it tomorrow and re install everything and see if that helps if not i was thinking of buying a new one.

it really sounds like a vacuum leak like adam said. you can have them test for it at shop, all they do is use smoke and see if it gets sucked in somewhere, then charge you an assload.

ghetto style: light up some incense and see if it's getting sucked in anywhere other than your intake
