Default my computer won't start up... stop screen?

my damn computer at my desk is sick... this blue screen pops up says:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer if this screen appears again follow these steps:

Disable or uninstall any unti-virus, Disk degragmentation or backup utilitics check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption and then restart computer

Technical info: STOP 0X00000024 (0X00190203,0X8235D2D0,0XC0000120,0X00000000)

i tried fixing it searched to fix it and i do everything it says but it still comes up

Not sure what kind of info / files you have on your computer but here's my recommendation as a IT.

Pull your hard drive from your computer and stick it in another computer as a slave drive. Backup all the files you need on either a external drive or flash drive. Make sure you scan the files that you are backing up with a antivirus program.

After the backup, just reformat your computer with a fresh copy of Windows. If you don't have a install CD, I'm sure one of us has one.

Feel free to PM if you have any questions. Good luck with your computer dude.

^^^hmmm...well, I would definitely try some other things first before you go reformatting anything. if you've already restarted the computer and you keep getting the screen, reboot the computer, and press F8 a couple times, until you hear a BIOS beep. By doing that, it should prompt you to a black screen that will ask you how you want to start your computer; i.e. Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt. Starting the computer in safe mode will basically disable all of the drivers that could be causing your blue screen. Try a system restore to a couple days ago, and see if that works.

If you can get into Safe Mode, your hard drive is fine, and you won't need to reformat anything. If you can't get into safe mode, either your hard drive is defective, or your operating system is corrupt.

What I'd do personally is start the computer in Safe Mode with command prompt, and if you have your Windows disc, or even if you don't, type in the following command: "sfc /scannow" make sure to leave a space between the "c" and the forward slash. This will go through your Windows and essentially fix any problems that there are.

If you continue you have more problems, let me know, I see this stuff at Geek Squad all the time.

blue screen going into safe mode means most likely bad hard drive...if you dont have any valuable data, just try a full system restore

good ol' blue screen of death. bring your computer down the basics.... take out all but one RAM stick, take out any video cards or other accessories and see if it starts.

i guess if he has really nothing to loose on the hdd he can reformat but i would save that for last. but if the harddrive is bad a reformat isn't going to help. i would troubleshoot one step at a time first

If reformatting doesn't work or you have weird problems reinstalling Windows, it's a bad hard drive... If I were you I'd take up Cesar on his offer.
