Default What would be cheaper?

A while back 10-bolt started making a really bad clunking noise. I swapped in another 10-bolt from my buddy's Camaro. Now I need to replace it.
I owe him a stock 10-bolt and he wants to spend additional money on taller gears. Now what would be the cheaper route?

A) Taking the clunking 10-bolt to a shop and having them rebuild it with taller gears.

B) Finding a good working order 10-bolt and having taller gears installed.

I know the price of a gear install with parts and laborl is about 650.
I plan to knock off about 100 bucks in buying a set of Richmond 3.73 gears from someone local. Your help is much appreciated.

Seems to me ive seen 10 bolts for $100 or so, id say if you could get one at a good price itd be cheaper to buy one and have the gears installed.

Does your buddy mind gear whine? Richmond are typically louder.

Yeah, you can find 10 bolts for like $100. Just get one and have someone install the gear set in it.

Option 2, you don't know what else needs to be replaced in the broken one.
