So im planning on buying new cats. Does anybody know wich are better dealer or aftermarket?...

They have to be OBD2 certified for California so I would say dealer. Aftermarket have to be labeled CARB to be compliant.

I don't think any cats are carb certified for new carb regulations

I thought Carsound has cats that are CA approved for 2009? I'm pretty sure all cats are the same in regards to emissions cleansing. I mean, mine passed with a cheap *** aftermarket one (less than $150) a year or two ago. From what I can tell, the only thing about the new CA approved cats is that they have some sort of electronic junk in them to let people know when they are no longer operating efficiently. Or something like that.

Not according to Carsound/Magnaflow's website (for 4th gen f-bods).

The Random Tech cats aren't legal either.

Tell me what shop crawls under the car to see the carb number on the cats?

They don't have to crawl under. When you install CARB legal aftermarket parts, you get a sticker which certifies the CARB exemption.
Odds are, as long as you have cats of any sort, the tester will not notice if they're OEM or aftermarket.
