Default Heating problems

Trying to figure out why my car is all of the sudden over heating... headed home from work this morning and the temp gauge just continued to climb... does anyone know what the problem might be

Have you done anything different to it? Coolant change or top off or anything?

nothing different... just out of nowhere started running hot..

fans not kicking on
water pump
thermostat
low on coolant
