Default How to Get Rid of A Wrecked Car Shell?

Hey All,

I have an 02 SS that has been stripped for parts. All that is left is the shell. No motor/trans/rear/wheels. The body was severely damaged in an accident. I'm just looking to get the car off the property, but all the 'sell your junk car' services don't deal with auto 'shells', they want a car they can take to the junk yard and sell.

I'm just looking to get rid of the car. Does anyone know how I could get rid of it? I have no truck or trailer. Is there a company who would just take the car and sell it for scrap metal?

Thanks in advance!

When my dad had to get rid of a full sized truck frame that was beyond repair and a portion of the truck cab, he got ahold of the mexican guy that goes around collecting metal. He came with a much bigger truck, and helpers. They chopped it all up with saw-zals and took every piece (Here in San Fernando Valley)

I'd give LKQ a call (800-525-3667) and ask them if they can pick it up or if you would have to tow it. They do that stuff all the time.

if u dont have paperwork call scrap collectors, but you should cut it down into smaller pieces for them to take.

if you do.. theres LKQ ... and a couple other places in Sun Valley where you can take the complete car and get some money for the metal.

Yea cut it into sections no bigger than 4 ft in any length and turn it in for scrap. Scrap prices are up right now, youd probably get a couple hundred for your time. Thats what im doing with my 2000 Z28.

nah bro, its not worth your time doing yourself. i just chopped up a 2000 z28 and got like 55 bucks, i think i spent more than that in sawzall blades. even if you get a hundred bucks still not worth it imo. next time im doing what everyone else says and calling a metal guy.

call your local volenteer fire dept. often they'll use shells or wrecks like this to practice on.....as long as there's enough to set on fire.
