Unhappy Why are mustangs so slow?

I've been looking at fox bodies on and off for a couple years now. There's some sort of phenomena that when I look at one no matter what kind of mods it has it's slow as ****. I've looked at several with aftermarket heads, intake manifold, cam, exhaust etc and they're no faster than a stock 5.0 or if they are just barelly, like high 13/low 14 second cars.

To cap this all off I looked at an 05 GT with a saleen supercharger last night, it was literally no faster than my bolt-on LS1 .

Any car can be made fast no matter what. Depends on the persons wallet. Go to Irwindale, youll see plenty off moddified fox bodies running 6's or faster in the 1/8mi.

there are alot of fast 302 5.0s out there. they have to be built right. i cant tell you how many built foxes i have bought that the timming was so far off im surprised it ran, but had $5000 worth of parts. just like any other car. but easiest way to make a 10 second mustang is but a cammed 6.0 setup. maybe alittle n20

I had the opposite observation, I have a neighbor who has one in the high 12's with very little money in it. The aftermarket is really cheap/vast from what I hear. (for the 302)

Default 2013 gt500

The 2013 Shelby GT500 will go on sale at the end of 2012. The base price is $54,200, but if you want to add the SVT Performance Package, it jumps up by another $3,495. This package includes: Torsen limited-slip differential, 19" forged-aluminum front wheels or 20" forged-aluminum rear wheels, Bilstein adjustable dampers, unique rear springs, a unique instrument cluster, and an SVT gear shift ****. A glass roof will add yet another $1,995, while an electronic package adds another $2,340.

I never said newer stuff or properly built mustangs are slow but that's not the context of this thread. The central theme is, why is every modded mustang for sale at a reasonable price a slow turd it seems?

I did actually look at a 2 valve with a supercharger than ran pretty strong last night, so I finally found one, out of like 10 that runs like it should.

Ive heard of at least two people who ordered theirs at msrp over at svtp. However they had some sort of twist to it, i forgot what it was. Im sure some places will have them for less than 90k though.

Poor combination is probably a big factor. A lot of folks by this part, this part, that part and throw anthor part in just because their buddy has it and, bam, a poor combo is born. No research+cheap part+mismatched parts = crappy low powered car.

I am going to go with installer error. No reason they should be running like turds unless something is wrong.
