Should be able to find one. Might be pretty high mileage. They didn't make many V1s and they are growing more rare everyday. Bunch of crashes this winter.

Keep an eye out for motor mounts. They are always bad unless they were swapped for urethane.

04-05 have the LS6 and 06-07 have the LS2. Either are good to go. A few points to remember. The 06-07 got better differentials. Not great, just better. Also an LS2 can have LS3 heads thrown on. Which lends itself to more options for boost.

There is a V section on ls1tech here. Some good info. Look in there for the threads about the short throw shifter and the clutch master cylinder upgrade.

A few guys have bone stock cars into the 200k mile range. Just basic maintenance and it's a legit car. Plus obviously it's a great motor either way you go

Naw, you really don't want one of these things.
This overweight turkey only gets about 7 MPG.

Agree with above i would only go with an ls2 v1 for a top end swap and ive seen mounts play a huge issue with these cars more so than anything.

Yea first hand knowledge, you'll want new motor mounts almost immediately, if the stick ones are still present. Mine were so bad that my headers were hitting the steering shaft in hard right handers.
