What seems to be the problem? With the west side of the country practically on fire I'd think SMOG would be running rampart.

Others in the world that do a whole lot more and nothing is done about it. If their thinking is to lead by example it's not going to solve the issue and they're just in LA LA land.

Alrighty. Well, any idea where I can get a smog so I can drive my car?

The probable reason you aren't getting any response is that very few smog stations would be willing risk losing their license and livelihood to fake a passing test if it is even possible. Maybe you could take your car to a place that does smog AND repair and ask them what changes would be have to be done to make it pass. I'm surprised you didn't consider passing smog when the changes were made or if you brought it in from out of state. If you are intent on driving a modified car, my solution is to trade it for a pre-75 vehicle that is exempt from CA smog rules.

CA smog laws are ever evolving. Obviously if it was a feasible change, the clear option would be to just make the repairs and keep things above board.

Thanks for oversimplifying and condescending though. And trust- if I end up selling the car, something earlier than 76 is a real possibility.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could just find a way to install a separate ECM with an OBDII port that is kept under constant power that matches the VIN and reports that all is good. Is it possible to go with an SD tune then hollow out the catalysts so you pass a visual and then modify the EVAP, the MAF, knock and O2's to send correct readings to the ECM so that everything comes back as ready no matter what? I believe it can be done and I'm sure it will be hush hush. Where there's a will there's a way!

hoping to make it run on a factory tune long enough to hit the rollers. The rest I can handle without compromising too much. Fingers crossed...

Yah.. I forgot that in conjunction to having all the OBDII systems checking out you fellas also need to pass the damn sniffer.

Only Pre 2000 vehicles subject to smog have to pass the sniffer. '00+ just need to pass the OBDII scan and visual inspection.

I thought 2010 was the cutoff for sniffer tests?
