Crown has been a very good dealer to us. There are some real nice ones out there, and some shitty ones.

I understand your point blown, but it is also a big load of BS when you have a K&N and your dealer says that your transmission went out due to the modifications on the vehicle. This happened on my subaru, and now I am very cautious of what does/does not void my warranty.

PS DON'T BUY A SUBARU!!!

I am not sure if you did understand my point. I am looking more toward the bigger HP items...i.e STS, Radix, H/C package. I don’t think the dealer has much to say about a K&N, but they may have something to say about a big power adder breaking a motor or rear end/trans. The question was raised about a Radix and the GM warranty, the dealer can not void your warranty due to an aftermarket add on, BUT if a part fails in the drive line and they can prove the power adder cause it....they may have a leg to stand on.

Things get interesting when there are actual issues with the stock vehicle, but your modification adds on to the issue or exacerbates it.

For example, there is a TSB out on my driveshaft due to vibration, but the Radix made it such that my driveshaft failure cannot be wholly attributable to the factors outlined in the TSB. So even if/though the manufacturing defect/issue (vibration) certainly contributed to my failure, when all is said and done, I ended up paying out of pocket.

Unfortunate, but that is the way it is when you mod your vehicle....at least at my dealership.

I understand completely. So I guess renting a truck from UHAUL and swapping its transmission for "somebodies" blown up transmission would also be against your ethics policy? Just checking, not that I'd do that or anything.

BADMOFO, that would be funny to say the least.

Warranty ... James B once told me a while back that the warranty it there to fix factory defects. It's not there to fix or correct your mistakes or something you've caused to break.

The warranty cannot be voided on an entire vehicle. There are some service managers that will try and pull that on you, but they can't. I tried to get a brake caliper replaced under warranty because it started leaking when I was having someone change the pads out. They said they weren't touching it because of the blower. I told them that was bull ****, hung up and called GM customer care. I got my new brake caliper and the service manager told me after that, that was it for warranty work. I got some lights replaced 2 weeks after that because they had moisture in them too. As a consumer, you have rights. As the manufacturer, they have rights too though.

After I put the blower on, the trans went out. I knew that was not their fault, and flipped the bill for that one myself. I also had a power steering pump problem with the blower on. I went through the same situation as the brake caliper. I got the power steering pump replaced. You need to know what's going on and be smarter than the service manager. It doesn't take much sometimes.

Obviously if you have a cam in your truck and end up with a bunch of bent pushrods. It's not a factory defect, therefore it's not up to them to get it repaired. That's purely a result of the cam since those pushrods weren't meant to take that kind of abuse.

I'm done ...

I have seen radix trucks covered. Its the mechanics that bring the svc. managers attention to your mods. If the tech was your bud, then he could fix your problem and nobody would be the wiser. you have to understand warr. work sucks does not pay well, so techs try to get out of it . 2 cents from a former blood sucking stealership technician. p.s. i am now converted.
