Default ORY in cali???

I just bought a TA and im looking to do the exhaust. I really want an ORY but i know the laws here in cali are strict and fines are big with no cats. The car is an LT1 but i can't seem to find anyone who makes a catted Y for long tube headers on an LT1. Would it be okay to go with the ORY or will i get in big trouble (like caught? lol) ????

I've had my car for almost 2 years and haven't been caught. just food for thought. I live in a really really picky part of L.A. (Montebello) where cops are just begging to pull cars over. Most cops will look at my ride and give me a thumbs up when they hear the exhaust. hell, some have even asked me to rev it up for them. I've got Pacesetter LT's with their ORY and a Magnaflo exhaust. even when I had my cutout open they wouldn't pull me over. From what I've seen.......cops give the muscle cars (especially the GM muscle cars) wayyy more leeway with exhaust/cam mods.

The mechanic shop I go to (the only mechanics I let wrench on my car) owns a 93 LT1 with Pacesetter LT's/ORY and custom cat installed. They performed the custom cat themselves. They have good pricing for the kind of work they do. I've got nothing but praises for them. Email me if you're interested in going that route (custom cat on an ORY) They've done work for many members on several Fbod boards. They're huge GM wrenchheads themselves. One owner owns a killer C5 and the other owns a wicked LT1

Same here. I had a CHP bike cop yell over at me in stop and go traffic (had the tops down) and ask me what kind of exhaust I had. I told him it was a Borla cat back... hmmm, is it still a cat back when there's no cats ?! He gave me a thumbs up and said it sounds nice. I'm running Pacesetters LT's and ORY and Borla cat back.

Hey... if you do deside to go with LT's and ORY. I have unused Pacesetter ORY that I'm selling for $80 localy. I bought 2, was gonna cat the second one and decided not to. It will save ya about $50 bucks.

would it fit an LT1 car or is it for an LS1? or does it even matter?

Ahh LT1, guess I should've read your sig. I'm not sure if the LS1/LT1 ORY's are interchangeable. On TSP's web site they have different part numbers, so I would tend to believe they're not. Anyone here know for sure??

I ran mufflex off road pipes (replace cats) and a magnaflow muffler for the last year. I only got pulled over once. CHP tried to give me a speeding ticket, never even questioned my exhaust. I opened it up comming off the freeway 90+ MPH on a side street.

I loved the sound, but switched to high flow cats last week in order to drive my kids around town.

Bottom line, never had a problem with the exhaust itself. However, the increased sound level will draw more attention to your car. I've driven through Palmdale about a dozen times in the last year and never had a problem. My car was always washed and I look clean cut.
