Default Califonia Smog???

Does anyone know how one would go about getting a hand fabricated turbo kit to pass California smog? No plans for production just wondering how you would get a single modified vehicle to pass the California smog *****.. I would want it to be legal. I know I can buy off a smog tech not to hard but I would prefer it to be legal, paperwork and all.

Cough up about $10k and send your car through CARB testing with a stock car for reference and you may get your wish.

But other then that, the meer mortal does not posses enough mojo to make this happen.

Thats kida what I was thinking.

I know if one does a motor swap, one can go to referee and get it leagal. I was just wondering if a single turbo could be OKed by a referee also.

CA law stipulates something to the effect that anything that modifies your Intake or Exhaust tract must be CARB exempt. Lame I tell you.

As for engine swaps, your engine must the same year or newer, and retain any and all smog equipment if so equipped.

But there are always places to go to get around the visual and only go through the sniffer test. I did that for my Subaru WRX, and paid about $250 to do so.
