Az Resource for LS1 Engine. I am seriously considering putting an LS1 in my Rock Crawler that I am building or maybe one of the LQ? engines. I'm looking for a complete engine including wiring harness & ECU w/o the transmission. I plan on using a built 4L80E which is modified to eliminate the computer control (manual valve body) so I think an ECU for a manual transmission would be better.
Anyone know of a fair local salvage yard in the Phoenix area?
Also, I am considering throwing a small turbo on this for messing around in the sand and cinders. I'm guessing the stock LS1 should be good to handle ~400-450whp? Since this will be primarily used as a rock-crawler, low end torque is more important than high end HP, so while I know "bolt ons" would probably get me close to or in the 400-450 range, a turbo will do so w/o sacrificing the low end and likely even improve the low end (given the size of the turbo I am thinking about).
My current Jeep is using a TBI 350SBC w/ a 4L60E, so I'm no stranger to making engine swaps work...
