Default Will I pass CA Emissions

Soon I'm leaving Sheppard AFB for Beale AFB and my GTO is back in PA, the problem is I have LTs, and catback, and was wondering if I would pass CA emissions?

If you have catalytic converters on your car, you should pass the tailpipe emissions test. However, it is an automatic failure of the visual inspection because they are not in the factory location. That is actually a federal law but CA is the stickler for it; you cannot remove or change their location. You may be able to get around it and convince one of the smoggers to pass you if you pass the tailpipe test. Then again maybe not. If you didn't add new catalytic converters with your headers, absolutely not without bribery.

I don't think you have to smog it by just bringing it into the state. Things may have changed in a year, but when I brought my 01 Firebird in from Texas, I missed the cutoff by one year. If I bought an 02, I would not have had to smog it until this year.

Eventually, you will have to smog it and you'll fail for the above reason (visual inspection).

being your in the service , just keep the car registered in your home state

as long as you got family that will send you your tags each year youll be more than fine

friend of mine was a outside contract labor , and kept his michigan plates , never had 1 problem , and he got pulled over a few times , and was never told to register the car in CA

Hmm from what I've read in my base info, says I just need the emissions test that says I've passed in the state the car is registered in. So I'm gonna go ahead and bring my car out and hope for the best.
