Default Some 6.0 tech questions...

just picked up a complete 03 6.0 motor today..Has the 317 heads and i guess better oiling compared to the earlier motors...Anyway question is what is the stock comp ratio on this motor?I have been told 9.5 to 1...Also i guess the heads are 76 cc chambers?I plan on a simple wash and wax with good rod bolts and a 595 595 232 238 113 lsa with some port work to the heads...Other wise a stock short block...What is the power limit to the stock short block?I planned on bottle.Like i said it will be a wash and wax with arp rod bolts and head bolts fully balanced with the ported heads and the cam above and going to try and pickup a half a point of pop by milling the heads..

O its going in a 65 el camino with a t350 4000 stall 3.73 gears thanks....

If it's an LQ9 then it should have 10:1 compression. If it's an LQ4 then it should be around 9.4:1. The 317 Cylinder head CC should be around 71CC. I would say you could do 600 rwhp on nitrous quite easily, depending on the weight of the Elky (which that year should be close to 3000 lbs if gutted).

I had a 68 that was pretty gutted and well rusted (it sat 10 years before I picked it up and started playing with it). It went about 3300 (according to the truck scale in Chula Vista), with 1 Recaro bucket and no carpet.

I think if you milled the heads a bit and went with a thinner cometic gasket (say the .040) you could get the compression up a bit. Maybe a nice nitrous grind and you might be able to squeek out 650 rwhp that'll last a while. A good tune will do the nitrous runs a great deal of good.
