Default Need To remove VATS

Hi, i'm in the OC/LA area and i think my VATS has gone bad. The Security light constantly goes on and i can't start the car for a while sometimes. I know the VATS can be removed and was looking to see if anyone in the area can do this or knows where i can take it to be removed. I think it just needs to be deleted from the PCM but i could be wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

My car was doing that, just all of a sudden didnt start anymore and the security light would just flash. Had to change my tumbler and key. Kinda a pain in the ***.

Its actually pretty easy to bypass the vats.

Whats you need to do is get a Ohms reader and test your key's chip. Go out to the store, Radio Shack or something like that and get a resistor in that frequency or something close. You may have to try a few. Or even to to your local car alarm shop and ask if they have it. I use to install remote starts few years back and the alarm companies use to send about fifteen resistors in the the box so you can use the remote start of the GM cars.
Then go under the dash for the orange wires that come from the steering column and cut the wires. The lead that is coming from the key side is not needed. What you need to do now is connect the other side of the orange wires, there are two in that orange loom. One wire to one side of the resistor and the other side to the other end of the resistor. Then try to start the car. If that doesnt work try another resistor. You have to connect the wires with butt connectors, sodering the resistore will be hard to do since its so small.
Just tape up the other side of the orange wire since they not need to be used.

This should work. I hope I explained it good enough. It's really not that hard. I am sure you could even take it to an alarm installation company for them to do it for you.

There used to be a kit sold on ebay that did the trick. I saw it while I was searching for key blanks.
