Camera help....

Camera help.... Im a real dumb **** when it comes to cameras. I have seen a lot of really nice pictures on this site. I dont seem to be able to duplicate them with my POS camera. I am currently looking at a few Cannon cameras, PowerShot SD430, PowerShot A630, PowerShot SD600, PowerShot SD630 and PowerShot SD700.
Id like to see a few pictures taken with any of these cameras. Im looking to spend about $400, If I'm completely off base let me know. My heart isnt set on Cannon just a good camera at a fair price.
Im looking for something good but basic. I know more money dosent always mean a better product. I also dont need a 1000 featuers I wont use (remember "dumb $hit").
