GA plates... you wont get crap... i have UT plates and i have never been pulled over or anything...
if you keep the GA plates, you will need to keep to GA rules.. just dont change your Driver license or tell the police(if you get pulled over) that you moved here... because CA law states that you have 10 days to change your license and plates when you move to the state.. just tell them you are visiting...

Was stationed in Cali for 2+ years when i was active duty, expect few or no problems with california laws, if you are AD USMC, you will not have a problem, make sure you let the DMV know you will be keeping your car registered in your home of record, and you shouldnt have to worry about smogging it here... keep in mind they can pull you over for other things (window tint and loud exhaust etc... pretty sure these things dont matter if you have out of state plates)
(it just needs to be GA legal, but most CA cops have no idea what the laws in GA are.)

Nope...I have had michigan plates since I have been out here. I dont have any emissions equipment. No cats, EGR, that retarded air pump thing. Nothing. No one has looked under the hood when I got pulled over. So, you shouldnt have a problem. By the way...californians cant drive. They dont know where the accelerator is when getting on the highway. Its the one on the left right??

For the base registration, you'll have to get it smogged at the smog shop on base if you're keeping the GA plates, I had to do it with my Mitsu when I moved here, but there are ways around the smog test if the car fails.

Thzts true...but i dont think they will give you crap, as long as your not doing a burnout in front of them and driving with open headers. I got pulled over once and the cop was chill, even after pointing out 3 things that were illegal on my car, and I live in Cali.

Do I know you? I came from NAS Atlanta to Camp Pendleton 2 years ago. Keep the car registered in GA. How much longer do you have before you report in? You DO have to smog your car to get a base sticker. I can help you with that. Just pm me with your info. I won't be here too much longer though. I have orders back down to NOLA. I will be glad to finally drive my car off base without having to look over my shoulder for the cops.

Never heard that Pendleton required you to smog, and its BS if they are telling you thaty you HAVE to smog check your vheicle in the on-base smog center. I know a lot of the smaller MCB and MCAS's are pretty leinient about on-base registration, Miramar required nothing more than driver's license, registration & insurance...
