i like simple green, pressure washer.. use regular concentrated simple green, not the Xtreme stuff. it sucks

glass cleaner first for plastics

also mcguire's back to black is awesome on plastics (it's milky white, smells like clearcoat, comes in a little red bottle).. it does not attract dust like armor-all.

If you are worried about Simple Green, do a 1:5 dilution in a spray bottle. That's what I did and it worked great.

What he said... it's a good idea to use a (not insanely stiff bristle) brush to get any bad spots that won't just rinse clean. Don't let it dry completely before rinsing.

What about steam cleaning. Get one of those Marines in SoCalMuscle to sponser you in to Camp Pendleton Auto Hobby shop. They Got the equipment and for 5 bucks/hour. It's located by one of thier 4 point lifts so you can even do the undercarriage.

I hear steam cleaning works really well.

What I do: pull the motor and go to town.

Simple green works great just dilute it as mentioned. Most of the electrical on newer cars are pretty water tight, just dont sit there and spray it constantly. I would not use a pressure washer or a steam cleaner. From what ive heard steam can get into electrical components and damage them, or connections and cause them to rust etc. I always use simple green diluted and some rags.
