What is the question? Any car that is older than 5 years has to start going for an emissions test. They target our cars for "test only" because they're more likely to be modified and fail the test. Its BS, but its the price we pay for having a high-powered car in CA. Look at it this way: At a test-only station, you wont see a tech trying to sell you BS things you need to put on your car that only puts money in his pocket.

Not true, I have a 01 Z28, and had her smogged in 2007, and did not have to go to a test only center, the vehicle (Sara) has only 22K miles on the odometer. The state of California determines the need for "Test Only" by the amount of miles on the vehicle. 100K is usually the trigger.

Even without carb numbers, you can pass, first time up for smog I passed with long tubes, a big cam, built truck heads and FAST ECU.

This is for California. We already know theres no smog in a bunch of other states.

SteveC

how could mileage be the trigger? do you report your milage to the state?
if you're going to say that mileage is estimated based upon age, then what the hell is the age? if you know a formula they're using, please enlighten us.

sara asked me to let you know that she needs some space.
