when i moved to cali from MI i kept my MI plates for about a year. The cops only hassled me about changing my license over, not my plates. A police tried to give me a front plate ticket so we just called up and said it is a MI plate and we don't need front plates there and they got rid of the ticket.
But ya I'm in the same boat with the smog too, now that I have cali plates

I keep mine registered in Nev, DL also. I am kind of like a dual citizen. I have property in Nev and vote in Nev.......also live 1/2 time in Calif.
So, I have Drivers license and registration in Nev with a Calif address on both.
If any of the Politicians think I am going to have and pay for Registration and Drivers License in both states; they are crazy as Hell!!!
BTW......I do the OBD II test in Nev and pass easily.
