Thank you.
Just as I thought:
-only some of the '01-'02 Fbody's got the LS6 block
-the LS6 block has added main windows for better bay to bay breathing
01 up f-body-c5&z06 same short block, differences between the cars lie in the cam and cylinder heads, 01-02 f-body- 01-04 c5 241 heads, 01-04 z06's 243 heads, 02-04 z06's have sodium filled intake valves

Yeah I figured all the threads about it that get posted all the time everywhere on this board, not all of them could be wrong.
IIRC the main bay to bay windows are better or oil passages are better for oil windage or something like that.
considering i have taken alot of 01-up blocks apart ,the main windows and oiling is the same, your thinking of the pre 01 blocks they have the solid main webs and inferior oiling system.

If you click on the link above you will see that the LS6 block has an additional bay window for improved bay to bay breathing. It also says that 15% of '01's and 25% of '02's came with the LS6 block, which is probably why the blocks you have torn apart all appear the same.
